Japan Powder Ski Holidays | Deep powder Tours | Guide

Madarao is located in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, between Nozawa Onsen and Myoko Kogen.
Appeal of the Madarao Kogen Ski Resort
In Madarao, 60% of the courses are ungroomed, so there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to enjoy a fluffy, deep powder when you ski. Also, since not many people like to ski on powder, there is not a lot of competition for the slopes.
Mt. Madarao stands 1382 meters tall and has 30 separate courses. There are 15 lifts. The ski area features a unique bowl-shape. Since Madarao was host to Japan’s first Freestyle Skiing Competition, there are many unique courses to choose from.
There are groomed courses, ungroomed courses, the Tree Run course, Free Ride Park, Kid’s Park, and wave courses- Madarao can be enjoyed by everyone from first timers to advanced skiers!
Most accommodations are the lodge-style, including one or two where the owner is available to teach skiing, telemark skiing, and other skills that will help beginners and experienced skiers alike make the most of their time at Madarao.

2016-2017 NEWS
With a variety of ungroomed courses already on offer, Madarao Kogen Ski Resort is proud to introduce the new ‘Family Adventure’ tree run course for the 2016-2017 winter season. Continual development is a key concept at Madarao Kogen Ski Resort, and several new courses have been added over the past few years: the SAWA natural half-pipe course in 2015, the NINJA course in 2014, and the KAMOSHIKA and Crystal Bowl courses in 2013. For the 2016-2017 season, we have redesigned two courses, RABBIT and KAMOSHIKA, and created an entirely new one, BEAR, under the concept of ‘Make your tree run debut with family and friends.’ These family adventure course developments allow you to find the tree run courses more easily and to have better access to them, as well as to make for an easier exit after your run. Madarao Kogen Ski Resort has evolved so much that only one day is simply not enough to experience all the wonders on offer, including three family adventure courses, 17 ungroomed courses, four powder snow courses, 11 tree run courses, the Freeride Park with 10 features, the Snowmobile Land with snow rafting, the Kids Park with tubing, and free snowboarding lessons. Be sure to inquire about our Yukimaji lift ticket campaign. Come have a great time at Mt. Madarao!
